Indoor bicycle trainers are great tools for cyclists, but they have their limits--namely, they don't always do a good job at mimicking hills. Enter the Elite Realpower CT indoor trainer, the only home trainer in the world that can correctly simulate any slope gradient up to 20 percent. The Realpower CT is outfitted with an innovative magnetic powder resistance unit, which includes special powder particles that vary their viscosity depending on the surrounding current. The more powerful the current, the higher the resistance level, pushing you to ascend to greater heights as you ride. The innovative resistance unit is even capable of simulating the breathtaking climbs of the Giro d'Italia and the Tour itself.

On the other end, the Realpower CT is connected a PC that sends information back and forth to the trainer. As you train, the PC will vary the resistance level according to the radiant, speed, and rider weight. Even better, the Realpower CT will put you smack in the middle of a virtual racing competition, with a series of 15 "video races" that pit you against a virtual opponent based on your best time. All of the video images are coordinated to the resistance level and reflect real-world riding conditions. As a result, you can train to your full potential, with a strict focus on knocking seconds or minutes off your racing time.

The Realpower CT bicycle trainer offers 15 "video races" with coordinated video images.

As an alternative, the Realpower CT's software package also lets you race against a human competitor, although this requires two PCs connected via LAN or the Internet. And, of course, the Realpower CT is compatible with most heart rate transmitters on the market, including coded Polar transmitters.

Other details include a 45mm Elastogel roller that reduces noise and tire wear and increases grip; an extra-large flywheel that offers more than 250 percent greater inertial momentum than a standard flywheel; multiple rider profiles; a sturdy travel block; and an automatic software updater when connected to the Internet.
